Kunqu Opera Museum

In 1992, Professor Hung Wei-chu from the Department of Chinese Literature established the Center for the Study of Chinese Drama & Opera, dedicated to researching and collecting cultural artifacts related to Kunqu Opera. Over the past thirty years, the center has amassed a world-renowned Kunqu Opera collection.

In 2017, the only Kunqu Opera Museum in Taiwan was established in Building 2 of the College of Liberal Arts at NCU. The museum continues to advance academic research, uphold university social responsibility, and promote cultural equity and access to artistic resources.

Each year, it presents two special exhibitions focused on Kunqu Opera. The museum also hosts performances, offers a digital platform for traditional Chinese opera promotion, and organizes interdisciplinary knowledge exchange between the fields of opera and museum studies.
