About CHA

Center for Humanities and Arts at National Central University

 

The Center for Humanities and Arts at National Central University (hereinafter referred to as “CHA”) was established in 2022 through the integration of the former Center for Humanities Research, Art Center, and Kunqu Opera Museum. It is a functional university-level administrative unit. Centered on deepening humanities education on campus, organizing arts and cultural programs, preserving cultural collections, and promoting interdisciplinary exchange, CHA coordinates humanities and arts-related affairs within the university while continuing to expand connections and resources both on and off campus.

 

CHA consists of three divisions: the Research and Planning Division, the Exhibition, Performance and Promotion Division, and the Kunqu Opera Museum. Each division carries out its professional responsibilities while working together to advance the development of humanities and arts across the university.

 

CHA’s main responsibilities are as follows:

 

I. Research and Planning Division

  1. Handling humanities and arts-related affairs under the university development plan.
  2. Planning and organizing humanities and arts activities.
  3. Promoting and implementing university history-related work and operating the NCU History Museum.
  4. Editing and publishing the Humanities NCU Book Series.
  5. Publishing the NCU CHA E-News.

 

II. Exhibition, Performance and Promotion Division

  1. Maintaining visual arts collections, and planning and executing exhibitions.
  2. Planning and executing performing arts programs.
  3. Maintaining and utilizing campus public art.
  4. Planning and organizing arts education outreach activities.
  5. Operating the Art Center, 107 CineSpace, Black Box Theater, Art Classroom, and Ceramics Classroom.

 

III. Kunqu Opera Museum

  1. Conducting the collection, research, and exhibition of the university’s Kunqu opera artifacts.
  2. Planning and implementing educational outreach activities and public services.
  3. Maintaining the official website and publishing annual reports, academic journals, and audiovisual materials.
