In 2022, National Central University established Center for Humanities and Arts (CHA), in line with the development strategy of the university, with a commitment to humanistic spirit, promoting humanistic deep cultivation on campus, organizing art exhibitions and educational outreach activities to enhance the humanistic literacy of teachers and students, and achieving the vision of becoming a "world’s top universities with deep humanistic concerns"

 

 

 

 

CHA headed by a director who manages the Center's business and is appointed by the university president from the faculty or hired as a professional staff member. The internal organization includes the General Affairs Division, Exhibition, Performance and Promotion Division, and Kunqu Opera Museum, which is led by a museum director.


CHA also established a Committee for Promotion of Humanities and Arts across departments, with the Center director as the convener and representatives from the Office of Academic Affairs, Office of General Affairs, Research and Development Office, Office of Student Affairs, the Library, and other units related to the development of humanities and arts serving as committee members. They participate in related meetings to promote the development of humanities and arts throughout the university.

 

The tasks of each organization of the Center are as follows:

 

I. General Affairs Division

(1) Humanistic-related affairs of the university's development plan
(2) Shaping campus culture and showcasing landscape aesthetics
(3) Promoting dialogue between humanities and science
(4) Organizing humanistic activities such as reading and writing
(5) Editing and publishing the Humanistic NCU Series

(6) Publishing the NCU CHA E-News

 

II. Exhibition, Performance and Promotion Division

(1) Overall planning of art-related affairs of the university

(2) Planning and execution of art exhibitions

(3) Planning and execution of art performances

(4) Planning and execution of art workshops

(5) Maintenance and application of public art on campus

(6) Operating the 107 Cinema and Black Box Theater

 

III. Kunqu Opera Museum

(1) Collection: Collection, museum entry, maintenance, and use of Kunqu Opera cultural relics

(2) Research: Mainly funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and academic conferences

(3) Exhibition: Based on the museum's collection, regularly updated with special exhibitions

(4) Education: Organizing workshops and planning on-site demonstrations in conjunction with special exhibitions

(5) Public services: Open for reservations, professional guided tours; actively participating in off-campus related activities

(6) Maintenance of the official website and annual reports, academic journals, etc.
