國立中央大學中國文學系於1981年創辦「金筆獎」徵文比賽，至今已有四十年的歷史，給予在校生創作的平台，獎勵優良作品，提升校園人文精神，累積了豐厚的成果，亦培育了不少文人作家。本書從「金筆獎」四十年以來的得獎作品中再做精選，以詩、散文和小說三大文類劃分，出版為三冊：《在微光中》、《在行走中》與《在空氣中》，以此展現昔日「金筆獎」文創之風采，亦鼓動校園創作之風氣。
